A Wyoming based Americana singer/songwriter Doug Balmain has been hard
at work trying to fund the production of his first full length studio
album called “Troubled Mind”. Having various demos of his music on
YouTube and Soundcloud you can sense the feel for his music, which
from what we can tell is very personal and raw. He currently lives in
Laramie, WY unfortunately with none of his friends or family being in
the music industry. Balmain was bitten by the music bug while
reminiscing about a love gone wrong which give that pure, raw and
honest, sentiment to all of his songs. These tracks are written by
someone who didn’t know music and never meant to write songs which
attest to the originality that this artist. This album will be the
groundwork for his future projects. Recording started July 20th in
Nashville Tennessee.
Drawing from various artists, Doug has comprised his style from artist
like Justin Townes Earle, Devil Makes Three, and even the Rolling
Stones. As an Americana artist Doug is influenced by many different
genres Blues, Country, Bluegrass, as well as Rock. With many demos on
YouTube and Soundcloud he leans more towards a Folk/Bluegrass sound
such as in “Troubled Mind,” which is his first studio album. It was
funded through the kickstarter.com website through word of mouth and
an amazing fan base that is still growing as well as with the help
from David Mayfield; Doug was able to fund his album.
