Artist Profile: Carolina Story

Ben and Emily Roberts are an Americana duo known as Carolina Story. Hailing from Nashville this married couple has made their music a major role in their lives. Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee at the Visible Music College their love and respect for music brought them together. Solo singer/songwriters in their own respect they began working together as Carolina Story. After graduating they began touring with a newfound focus. Their first LP “When The River Met The Sea.” was released in 2010, it was met with excellent reviews and a love from their fans.

With a heavier country influence than most Americana bands, this makes Carolina Story stand out in the genre. Ben and Emily blend their voice together for a great harmonic sound. Not afraid to experiment with different sounds like a kazoo. “Help, Help Me” was a song I was drawn to because of the for mentioned kazoo. A very acoustic song with a mellow rhythm trough-out occasionally picking up during the chorus and towards the end, the kazoo comes right after the chorus is sung, giving it a light hearted touch to this otherwise serious song. With two albums under their belts and a newly released single Carolina Story is slowly but surely leaving a mark in the genre they love. This is one of the many reasons I like this band, they are fans of the music they play. Not fans of their own works, but fans of bands like Shovels and Rope and the like.

I am excited to see what else this band produces, with their unique blend of harmonic vocals and country influenced sound. Carolina Story will be a duo that will be talked about for years to come.
